What is recorded here

A hidden enclosure in Ardshanbally, County Limerick, lies on a slight west-facing pasture slope beside the River Maigue, with a ringfort 95m to the north. No surface remains were visible when surveyed in 2000, and it does not appear on historic mapping or later satellite images. What is left is a ghost of a boundary, perhaps a farmyard, shrine or seasonal camp, now erased beneath grass and time.

On a slight W-facing slope, in pasture, with moderate to poor views in all directions, 170m E of the River Maigue. Not depicted on OS historic mapping. Ringfort (LI021-010----) 95m to N. Monument identified as an enclosure in the Adare Bypass Constraint Study (Ref. 51/A/5, p. 62). Monument surveyed by the ASI in 2000 and described as no surface remains visible. Monument is not visible on Digital Globe orthophotos taken 2011-13 or on Google Earth orthoimages taken 28/06/2018. See attached Google Earth orthoimage.
