County Home stands on the NE outskirts of Killarney, a large 19th-century workhouse built of random rubble sandstone with limestone quoins. Its ground plan, marked on the 1846 OS 6-inch map, remains largely intact: a two-and-three-storey dormitory range faces southeast, a one-storey chapel and refectory join behind it, and part of a two-storey infirmary survives at the rear. A dispensary and lodge sit to the southeast. The building now works as a hospital, continuing to tend people after decades of excluding them.

The ground plan as indicated on the 1846 OS 6-inch map is still largely intact: a dormitory range forms the front elevation (SE) of two and three storeys; a one-storey chapel/refectory range is at right angles to the rear of the domitories; the W portion of a two-storey infirmary range survives at the rear of the complex.
