Hut site

What is recorded here

In rough hill pasture with surface stones and outcropping rock, on the N-facing slopes of Tooreennamna Mountain. The remains of a circular hut site (5.1m N-S; 4.6m E-W) defined by a stone wall (T 0.5m; H 0.3m) which is partially obscured by grass. Boulders are incorporated into the wall at the N and S. The interior, which is in pasture, is raised (H 0.1m) at the N and cut (D 0.2m) into the upslope at S to compensate for the hillslope. Another hut site (CO102-005016-) adjoins this hut site at the W. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009
