Ardaloo in County Kilkenny hid two or three raths in its northern division, though Carrigan dismissed them as inconsequential and maps never marked them. They may have been shallow ditches, forgotten shelters or merely uneven ground, yet their absence from every survey suggests they resisted human measurement. The land kept its own boundary, invisible toSurveyors but familiar to anyone who walked there at dusk.

Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 208) in his description of Ardaloo townland mentions, 'there are two or three raths in the northern division of the townland, but none of them of any consequence'. There are no enclosures indicated in this townland on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map or the 1946-7 revision.
