What is recorded here

No visible castle or church marks the hill, yet the fort endures because people kept returning to it. The hill is not empty. It is crowded with absent owners, abandoned rooms and unfinished business. The chamber is a small room without walls, yet it contains more life than most houses. The dead do not leave because the living still occupy the same place. To enter the chamber is to join that crowd. The fortress is not a memory palace. It is a living body that remembers through others.

Internal diam. 28m. This circular univallate rath lies on a N facing slope about 150m from the E bank of the Owenalondrig river. The laneway which skirts the NW half of the enclosure has recently been improved and the outer flank of the bank in this sector is now 3m high and has been partly faced with stone. Elsewhere the bank is c. 1.5m high externally. It rises c. 1.2m above the interior. Access to the interior is provided by 2 gaps at S and SW.
