Clonogan House absorbed the broken body of Clonagan Castle, turning loss into a new room. That much of the old structure survived the transfer means the castle did not vanish entirely; it changed shape. The fragment records a house built from another house, not a new wall raised from nothing.

According to OS letters (O' Flanagan 1934, 428 (132)), Clonogan House was constructed of material from Clonagan Castle (CW018-013001-).
