What is recorded here

Gallán is a leaning standing stone in a Cork pasture, tall enough to touch but thin enough to forget. It has watched river water and passing legs since before maps learned its name. People may have marked it, prayed to it or simply avoided stepping on its shadow. The stone does not need permission to remain strange.

Not shown on 1842 OS 6-inch map. In pasture, in Toon River valley. Stone (H 1.95m; 1.9m x 0.35m) is rectangular in plan, leaning to S; long axis NE-SW.
