An unsteady light falls through the west doorway, catches the white stone, and shows the forgotten name of the person buried beneath the church. The headstone is not a foreign marker but a witness saved from being lost when the floor and roof changed around it. To stand beside it is to remember that even a small village church can hold the life of someone who would otherwise have vanished without trace.

In a church (MA016-004001-), built into the W side of a stone-built grave structure which spans the width of the church. Listed in the SMR (1991) and the RMP (1997) as ‘inscribed stone’ on the basis of a reference in Westropp (1914, 77) which mentions that one of two tall pillars, set close to the N wall in the interior of the church, had 'a long epitaph'. This 19th-century headstone or memorial stone consist of an upright slab (H 1.78m; Wth 0.38m N-S; T 0.15m E−W) of dressed limestone, rectangular in shape with a rounded top, with a memorial inscription inscribed on the W face.
