What is recorded here

Holy wells were once the edge of the world, the place where the flesh ended and the mystery began. In An Caithrín, County Mayo, that edge still leaks through the soil. People dipped cloth in the dark water, not for show but for the belief that the well knew the shape of the pain before they did. The clay may have drunk half the prayer, but the other half went somewhere the body cannot follow.
