Embanked enclosure is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Aghalustia, County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies a gentle west-facing slope where a circular grass area measures thirty-six metres across. Slight bank traces, a narrow berm, and an outer drain surround the centre, while a modernised entrance and causeway break the east edge.
On a gentle W-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 36.3m E-W; 36m N-S) with slight traces of a bank (Wth 5m; int. H 0.1m) at W defined by a fosse (Wth of top 4.4-6.6m; int. D 0.6-1m; ext. D 0.6-0.8m) which is separated by a berm (Wth 0.7-0.9m) from an overgrown bank (Wth 3.9-4.8m; int. H 0.7-1.3m; ext. H 1-1.3m). This is surrounded by an outer fosse or drain (Wth of base 1.2-1.5m; D 0.2-0.3m) WNW-WSW. There is a modernised entrance (Wth 2m) and causeway (Wth 3.2m) at ESE (max. ext. diam. 58.8m E-W; 58.2m N-S). Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
