Craigievar Castle stands as a seven-storey Scottish Baronial tower completed in 1626 by William Forbes, the merchant known as Danzig Willy. The Forbes family lived inside its crafted plaster ceilings for three centuries until the nineteenth Lord Sempill sold the property to the National Trust for Scotland in 1963. Its L-plan rooms and Nine Worthies decorations remain among the finest surviving examples of early modern Scottish domestic architecture.

Craigievar Castle was built by the Forbes family in the early 17th century, with construction beginning around 1600. It is important as a fine example of Scottish baronial architecture and is closely associated with the history of the Forbes clan in Aberdeenshire.
