Craigievar Castle Policies holds medieval rig and furrow marks still visible beside post-medieval cottages in Aberdeenshire. The land remembers hands that cut, carried and planted long before roads or castle walls claimed the place. Whatever life filled those cottages, the soil kept the shape of their labour while the world above forgot their names.

Craigievar Castle was built by the Forbes family in the early 17th century, with the main construction taking place around 1600–1620. It is important as a fine example of Scottish Baronial architecture and is associated with the historical influence of the Forbes clan in Aberdeenshire.
