Craigievar Castle stands as a seven-storey Scottish Baronial tower completed in 1626 by William Forbes, the merchant known as Danzig Willy. His family occupied the harled stones for three centuries, watching plaster figures of the Nine Worthies peer down from ceilings ranked among the finest in Scotland. The house survived decay and restoration before the nineteenth Lord Sempill released it to the National Trust for Scotland in 1963, preserving the proud lineage and crafted interiors for later viewers.

Craigievar Castle was built in the early 17th century by the Gordon family, specifically George Gordon, 1st Marquess of Huntly. It is important as a fine example of Scottish baronial architecture and is one of the most photographed castles in Scotland due to its distinctive pink-harled exterior.
