Grave Yd stands on the north shore of the Ilen river estuary in County Cork, holding centuries of burial alongside the ruined walls of Abbeystrowry church. The famine plot lies adjacent to an abandoned keepers house, suggesting a lonely watcher once tended the dead before vanishing itself. Stones stretch east where the yard expanded during the nineteenth century, packing the oblong ground with the crowded business of living and losing.
