Grave Yd

Graveyard

What is recorded here

Grave Yd is a small triangular graveyard on the south shore of the Courtmacsherry estuary in County Cork, enclosed by a stone wall and the ruins of Abbeymahon church. Rows of low, uninscribed headstones fill the pasture-like yard, while a few inscribed stones from the 19th and 20th centuries remain inside the church. It is still occasionally used, a quiet place where old and new death share the same salt air.
