Burial Gd stands on the north west side of a road overlooking Bantry Bay, holding a Franciscan Friary and gravestones that have watched the water since the nineteenth century. The ground has grown from a small rectangle into a larger graveyard, yet the oldest stones still cluster near the centre where the first burials happened. The bay wind moves through the places without breaking the quiet, carrying the smell of salt and the memory of people who trusted the land to keep them.

On NW side of road overlooking Bantry Bay to N. Shown on OS 6-inch map (1842) as rectangular area; enlarged to E and NW on OS 6-inch maps (1902; 1944); more recent enlargements to S and W. Area of 1st ed. burial ground is now in centre of graveyard and earliest gravestones (19th century) occur here. Site of Franciscan Friary (CO118-03002-) on NW side.
