What is recorded here

Under a Killyglen field, a rath hides a man-made cave named for the fairies who supposedly occupy it. People built the passage during the early Christian period, yet local tradition still claims the hollow belongs to someone else. Human hands shaped the rock, but the cave keeps its own name and refuses to explain itself.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH & Man-made underground passage: FAIRY CAVE. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
