What is recorded here
Mud, fire, and time built Gartree twice. Neolithic hands shaped the first dwelling, then a later rath rose above their ashes, turning forgotten life into a foundation for new pride.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH, LATER RAISED RATH, overlying NEOLITHIC OCCUPATION SITE. Recorded period: NEOLITHIC; PREHISTORIC; E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
