What is recorded here

Lisnasliggan in County Down still carries the name of an ancient rath, though no wall or ditch remains visible to judge its shape. The official record preserves only that a rath once occupied the land, leaving its size, purpose and fate to imagination. Perhaps it was a small fortress, a boundary marker or a ceremonial site forgotten before written history began.

The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
