RATH in Deer Park Farms

Deer Park Farms holds a rath, an ancient earthwork whose boundary still marks the land. The official record preserves only its name and kind, leaving its builders and purpose unnamed. A rath is a defensive ring, often circular, raised to keep out danger or claim ownership. That much of the structure has vanished while the name remains is typical of northern Irish farmsteads, where fields were ploughed through older works and the memory reduced to a single word.
