RATH in Crossnacreevy

RATH

What is recorded here

Crossnacreevy in County Down contains a scheduled rath, marking the area as an ancient landscape where human hands shaped the earth long before modern boundaries. The preserved mound suggests people lived, worked and perhaps defended themselves within a small circle of soil and stone. Its survival means the ground still holds the shape of forgotten daily life, waiting for curiosity rather than explanation.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. Recorded protection: Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
