Rannoch Wall is a sea cliff composed primarily of Lewisian gneiss, some of the oldest rocks in Scotland, dating back over 2.7 billion years. These highly metamorphosed rocks formed deep within the Earth's crust through intense heat and pressure, and the cliff is notable for its rugged, ancient landscape that reflects the region’s long geological history.
