What is recorded here
Ballywattick Lower holds a raised rath, an ancient earthwork scheduled for protection though its exact age remains uncertain. The mound still stands beside ordinary land, waiting for someone to walk its rim and measure how much larger human memory becomes when stone and soil stop moving.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RAISED RATH. Recorded period: UNCERTAIN; E.CHRIST.. Recorded protection: Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
