Built by Domhnall Ó Donnabháin after his inauguration in 1584, Raheen Castle was partially destroyed by Cromwellian forces in 1649 during the Irish Confederate Wars. It is remembered as a symbol of Gaelic resistance and the impact of 17th-century conflicts on Irish territorial strongholds.
