Lord Cobham built this for his wife to directly face his own Temple of Friendship where he and his friends would meet. Lady Cobham & her companions spent time enjoying the southerly aspect over Hawkwell Field & the temples at the bottom end of the garden.
Queen's Temple was built by Lord Cobham as a companion structure to his Temple of Friendship, intended for his wife and her circle to enjoy the view over Hawkwell Field. The site reflects the social and architectural practices of the Cobham family, highlighting their influence in the local area.
