Coursed rubble stone and concrete quay, built 1896, having granite coping and iron railings, mooring rings, bollards and steps. Three-stage flight of carved and cut block steps. Associated single-bay single-storey store with barrel concrete roof, blocked square-headed openings and rectangular vent (south-east). Recent concrete quay to north.

This quay, a functional and significant feature at Rock Island Point, was built as part of a shore depot for the construction of Fastnet Lighthouse. It is an important physical reminder of both the maritime industry and skilled local craftsmanship involved in its construction. It continues to be an essential element in the modern maritime activities of Rock Island.
