Quay

What is recorded here

Discovered during pre-development excavation associated with the Drogheda Main Drainage and Wastewater Disposal Scheme in 1996 (Excavation Licence No. 96E0160). A wall running E-W, constructed of limestone blocks and white mortar, was uncovered. It is thought to have represented part of an early quay wall of probable twelfth-century date. (pers. comm.
