The lios is a sub-circular platform above clay cliffs in County Cork, Ireland. A curved fosse once cut through its northern and western edges, opening a laneway toward a rockey shore. People have lived beside this fort for generations, shaping its ditches and placing a wooden summer house at its centre.

Sub-circular platform (21m E-W; 20.5m N-S) on W side of stream gully, above clay cliffs. Westropp (1921, 109-110) describes 'curved fosse' to N and W through which laneway runs to rockey shore. Fosse eroded away on W side; enlarged on N side cutting into interior, landward side stone-faced. Interior level; summer house (wooden) at centre. According to local information fosse to N enlarged when house built c. 20-30 years ago; locally known as 'the lios'. Westropp (ibid) met an old man who heard it called 'the Doon' in his boyhood.
