Cosledena Castle belonged to the Imokilly Fitzgeralds and may have risen in 1521, but today only flat tillage and a demolished farmyard mark its loss. Arch stones from a tower-house door were taken away before anyone could study them, leaving behind walls so young they hide the castle completely. The ground keeps its secret while memory loses the shape of the place.

In flat tillage. Site of castle abandoned farmyard where house and some outbuildings recently demolished. Surviving walls show no features earlier than 18th/19th century. According to Healy (1988, 124), arch stones from door 'of tower house type....had recently been found and taken away'. A castle of the Imokilly Fitzgeralds (ibid.); known as Cosledena Castle'; according to Lewis (1837, vol. 2, 162) built in 1521.
