Kilconly Point holds two needle-thin headlands where erosion stripped away most evidence of ancient defense. Modern field banks and faint isthmus ridges hint that people once cut off those coastal tongues, yet the sea and time erased the proof. The fort remains a possibility rather than a fact, waiting for boots on the ground to confirm what the tide already took.

Possible promontory fort described in 2002 as follows; 'Erosion has obliterated most of the soil cover from two needle-thin projections [KE001-048---- and KE001-049----] south of Kilconly Point along the southern shore of the Shannon estuary mouth. Two modern earthen field banks cut off the headlands from the surrounding pasture and close to the neck of each promontory are undulations across the isthmus, suggesting from afar the remains of banks or walls cutting off the headlands. These sites were not examined in detail at ground level and remain only possibilities until further inspection takes place' (Casey 2002, 52, no. S).
