Promontory fort stands on a Clare coast edge, where stone and sea still argue about who owns the land. It is the kind of place people built when they wanted the ocean to do half the work of keeping intruders out. A fort at a cliff edge is not decoration. It is a boundary drawn with muscle, stone and patience.
