Priest Island

Crannog

What is recorded here

Priest Island is a crannog in County Mayo, Ireland. It is a small island habitat, likely built or shaped by human hands, where people lived, worked or prayed above the water. The name suggests worship, but the structure suggests survival. Both may have shared the same wet ground.
