PREHISTORIC SANDHILLS SETTLEMENT SITE in Ballykeel

PREHISTORIC SANDHILLS SETTLEMENT SITE

What is recorded here

Before written history, people lived among the moving sands of Ballykeel. They read the dunes like a living thing, following ridges and dips that changed with wind and season. Their homes may have shifted as often as the sand itself, leaving little behind but the shape of adaptation. The site preserves that much older intelligence: life sustained not despite change, but through constant adjustment to it.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as PREHISTORIC SANDHILLS SETTLEMENT SITE. Recorded period: PREHISTORIC. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
