What is recorded here
Crannogs were ancient island homes built in northern lakes. The Crannoge in Artimacormick may have been one of them, a small wooden island where people lived above the water. If so, it was a place of firelight, rowing boats and daily life surrounded by lake.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as POSSIBLE CRANNOG: THE CRANNOGE. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
