Portcullis Slot, Kisimul Castle is a castle, fort or tower in Na h-Eileanan Siar, Scotland. Perhaps the dropped stone blocked a narrow gap where tide and muscle met. Maybe the keep still smells of salt and fear. Imagine a rope pulling heavy iron through water while someone watched the horizon for danger.

Kisimul Castle, including the Portcullis Slot, was built by the Macneil of Barra clan in the 15th century. It is important as a historic stronghold of the Clan MacNeil and as a well-preserved example of a Scottish island castle.
