What is recorded here
Carrickclevan holds a broken portal tomb where ancient hands may have placed stones before the valley forgot their names. The chamber measures two metres, wears a cracked roof, and leans inside a modern fence as if claiming ownership of both worlds. The River Erne flows a hundred metres north, witnessing the pitch of the southern slab and the missing backstone. What is absent matters as much as what remains visible.
Situated in a valley 100m SE of the River Erne. The chamber, approximately 2m long, is incorporated in a stone fence. The entrance, at the E, consists of two portal-stones about 1.1m high at either side of a low stone, possibly a sill. The sides are of single slabs, the southern now pitched inwards. Both are about 1m high. There is no backstone visible. The roofstone is now broken in two parts, the larger of which covers the chamber. (de Valera and Ó Nualláin 1972, 130-1, No. 31)

Portal tomb, dating to the Neolithic period (c. 4000–2500 BCE). Its construction reflects early megalithic traditions in Ireland, with portal stones framing a low entrance to a small chamber, indicative of ritual or burial practices of the time.
