PLATFORM RATH in Clonmaulin

PLATFORM RATH

What is recorded here

One platform rath still stands in Clonmaulin, County Fermanagh, but the ordinary name hides a strange birth. According to local story, a woman walked out of a waterfall at Doonbeg, gave birth on the land, and named the child Clonmaulin. The woman vanished back into the water, leaving behind a place where the boundary between the visible world and the hidden world becomes paper thin.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as PLATFORM RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
