What is recorded here

Located towards the W edge of Cloonshannagh bog, c. 14m SSE of the platform (RO024-035----). This site was visible on the field surface. The platform (dims. 4.35m x 4.35m; T 0.1m) was orientated NE-SW and was composed of poorly preserved regularly-laid roundwood and brushwood transverses underlain by occasional roundwood longitudinals. The elements were laid 0.02 to 0.40m apart. The roundwood and brushwood ranged from 0.07 to 0.10m and from 0.03 to 0.05m in diameter, respectively. The underlying peat was composed of moderately humified Sphagnum-rich peat with frequent Eriophorum inclusions. Compiled by: Ros O Maoldúin/Michael Moore Date of upload: 14th April, 2011
