Pit-burial in Oatencake — Report the wrong picture

Oatencake holds a pit-burial marked only by a cordoned urn lost when drainage work destroyed the grave before investigation. The river still rises nearby, swallowing what human hands cannot keep. Forgetting is not the same as erasure; it is a chamber where memory stops resisting the dark.

Situated c. 150m N of highest tidal reaches of Ballynacorra river; Midelton to NE. Cordoned urn found during drainage work; grave destroyed before investigation could take place (Doody 1986, Cork no. 43).
