Pit-burial in Monadreela is a pit-burial in Monadreela, County Tipperary, Ireland. The main subcircular pit measures 1.41 metres by 1.02 metres across and reaches a depth of 0.3 metres. Its two separate fills held 254 Bronze Age pottery sherds, at least four pottery types, cremated and crushed bone, charred hazelnuts and acorns, and a small polished stone axe.
On the E-facing slope of a roughly N-S orientated ridge, excavated in advance of construction of the N8 Cashel Bypass and N74 Link Road South. A subcircular pit (dims. 1.41m x 1.02m; D 0.3m) with two separate fills containing 254 sherds of Bronze Age pottery. At least four separate pottery types were identified, including several decorated sherds with nail impressions in a crow's-foot pattern. Cremated and crushed bone, substantial quantities of charred hazelnuts and acorns and a small polished stone axe were recovered with the pottery (O'Flanagan 2006, 474). A second pit (TS061-172----) containing similar pottery but no cremated bone was excavated 2.4m to the WNW (Hughes and Macleod 2003, 12). A group of post-holes (TS061-173----) less than 20m to the N may be associated with these pits (O'Flanagan 2006, 474).

Pit-burial in Monadreela is a subcircular pit burial, likely dating to the Early Medieval period. Its discovery in advance of infrastructure development highlights the importance of archaeological mitigation in preserving and recording prehistoric and early historic funerary practices in the region.
