A loose pile of stones, one metre across and forty centimetres high, sits on a slight plateau rise between Aghanish and Aroo in County Leitrim. It marked an unbuilt townland boundary before the 1910 OS map captured its name in italic lettering. A second cairn waits forty metres to the north-northwest, suggesting the line mattered enough to repeat. The stones have never claimed ownership of the land, only the shape of the border people once drew across open ground.

Marked only on the 1910 ed. of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in italic lettering as a ‘Pile of Stones’. It is situated on a slight rise in a broad plateau on the line of the unbuilt townland boundary between Aghanish to the W and Aroo to the E. This is a loose pile of stone (diam. 1m; H. 0.4m) with a second cairn (LE004-003001-) c. 40m to the NNW. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 4 January, 2016
