Phil Healy was born in Ballineen and Enniskean, County Cork, where she joined Bandon Athletics Club and began serious sprinting as a teenager. Her viral 2016 comeback, in which she closed an eighty-metre gap on the final leg, still sounds like a woman running out of the depths of hell. She later carried that same relentless forward motion to a European relay medal and Olympic finals before retiring from international competition.
