Penarth Head is a coastal headland in the Vale of Glamorgan, composed mainly of Carboniferous Limestone and Millstone Grit, formed around 340–320 million years ago. The rock was deposited in shallow marine environments and is notable for its dramatic sea cliffs and the presence of the Penarth Grand Hotel, a prominent Victorian-era building.
