Pembroke Castle Gatehouse

Built in the 13th century, Pembroke Castle Gatehouse was part of the larger castle originally constructed by William de Braose, a powerful Marcher lord, and later held by the de Clare family and the English crown. It is important as a key surviving element of a strategically significant fortress that played a major role in the Norman conquest and control of Wales.
