What is recorded here
Ancestral court tombs at Dookinelly, County Mayo, predate Christianity by several thousand years. People may have gathered there to honour ancestors, mark territory or perform ritual long before written history. The name “pagan cemetery” preserves that older mystery rather than explaining it away.
