Burnham East in County Kerry gave birth to Pádraig Ó Siochfhradha on 10 March 1883. He wrote Jimín Mháire Thaidhg in 1919, organised for the Irish Volunteers from 1913, suffered three imprisonments and later sat in Seanad Éireann until his death in Dublin on 19 November 1964.
