Oyama

Oyama was a Japanese steamship that was torpedoed and sunk by a German U-boat (U-123) on 28 May 1942 during World War II while en route from New York to Liverpool, carrying a cargo of scrap metal. The attack resulted in the loss of all 36 crew members, and the wreck is now a protected site in Welsh waters, significant as a reminder of the Battle of the Atlantic and the vulnerability of transatlantic shipping during the war.
