Oxwich Bay features limestone and sandstone cliffs formed during the Carboniferous period, around 300 million years ago, through sedimentary deposition in shallow marine environments. The area is notable for its well-preserved fossil content and as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to its geological and ecological significance.
