What is recorded here
The Irish Caves Database records Oweynagat at Glenballythomas in County Roscommon. This point comes from its public cave register. A cave map point does not by itself grant access: check local conditions and ask the landowner where needed.
Oweynagat is a karst cave formed in limestone, typical of the Burren geological region, and is associated with the River Shannon's subterranean flow. It is also linked to Irish folklore as the "Cave of the Cats," believed to be the entrance to the Otherworld in Celtic mythology.
The cave register does not grant public access. Check conditions and ask the landowner before entering private land.
