What is recorded here
In 1612 Thomas Petyt [Petit] of Irishtown was granted 'a watermill' (Cal. pat. rolls Ire., Jas I, 234) in the townland of Templanstown. The precise location of this watermill within the townland has not been identified. The mill depicted on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map may have been built on site of medieval mill.
